I've come back today from Belfast and I have to say I'm a bit sad now because I had such a wonderful time with wonderful people!
I'm really glad that my cousin is in a relationship with someone from abroad though she's been living in France for some years now.
And ow they have a cute and lovely baby girl, aw~

When my cousin called to invite us to the baptem in Belfast, I was really happy, I had never been to Ireland before!
I thought it'd be even greater if the ceremony was in Eire but still, I couldn't wait.
And actually, I really really enjoyed Belfast, its surrondings and the people there...
It's such a different atmosphere than in France, people are way nicer and more... free.
And there are pubs, old buildings, big shops, music and food everywhere, so nice!

That was my first contact with the Northern Irish culture and then, I met my cousin in law's family, I was a bit aprehensive because I had never ever met or even talked with any of them before but everything went smoothly and talking with everyone suddenly became so natural.
So we had lots of fun altogether and they praised my English and my accent too :D

Seems like I sound a lot British when I talk, they were a bit surprised.
So communication was really easy, they do have an accent (for me), but it's not as strong as the Scottish one.
English, Guinness, fun... what else could I have asked?!

I'll go back to Belfast and around again for sure, it's just that I don't when.
But now, I have to see Southern Ireland, I'm going to Dublin on April with a friend.
And you know, when I landed back in Paris, I felt down, CDG airport was messy like hell, people around me were not smiling and polite anymore at all, everybody was dressed the same, I just wanted to go back to Belfast.

Anyway, if you have the occasion to go to Northern Ireland one day, just go, it's totally worth it!
I really think that Northern Ireland is a lot underestimated, people often say that Eire is great but the North has a lot a charms too!

I'm already loving 2011 cause we - meaning BIG BANG fans - have received great news today!

- Dec 12th: Running Man, like every Sunday actually but this time it'll be a YG special featuring a YG artist in one of the RM teams.
I guess we'll get to see other known figures in this episode.
And maybe they'll grant my wish: seeing Daesung and Jae Suk re-united.

- Dec 15th: GD and TOP are gonna release their single + MV I guess.
I watched their performance at the MAMA and it was daebak!
Byebye fucking annoying and overwhelming electro sounds, clap your hand for good hip hop stuff!

- Dec 24th: GD and TOP's full album, I can't believe they worked on a full album in secret!

- Jan 3rd: Release of Seungri's digital single, I hope it'll be as good as "Strong Baby"!

- Feb 1st: Probably best day of the year cause it's BIG BANG's comeback as a group, at last!

So I'm a little LOT ecstatic today if you know what I mean...
Since I watched the MAMA performances, I'm being a little impatient but still, I'm coping.
As I was watching GD, TOP and Taeyang perfs, I was thinking "Hey K-artists, watch and learn!"
And wait for next year award ceremonies, they're gonna get 'em all!

2011's gonna be a BIG BANG year!
BIG BANG is the shit, damn it!

I need that effin' awesome pamphlet from the 8UPPERS tour, GOSH!
Eito all look gorgeous and if you have watched the movie, you know what I mean.

Lately, I listen to their album a lot while driving (can't drive without music!).
It's not a "real" album and it's not an OST at the same time, it's a kind of mix and that's what I appreciate.

I love good OSTs, I believe that good music really serve a movie and even more, can magnify it.
But sometimes, when you listen to just the OST, it doesn't feel "right", something's missing: pictures.
I like OSTs that can live by themselves, I mean when you don't have to remember the scenes to appreciate the music.
For instance, I liked the OST of "Inception", I listened to it but didn't manage to really appreciate it.
On the contrary, that's not the case for the OST of "L'Auberge espagnole" (distributed as The Spanish Apartment" abroad).

So now you can understand why I like the 8UPPERS album, it's not only instrumental and it fits the movie quite well.
Nevertheless, "Wonderful World" sounds a bit out of place here, but whatever...

As for the solos, I like them all but of course my preference goes to Ryotan's one.
I don't really know why but I ALWAYS love the songs he composes, every one of the them, my favorite being "Code".

And in the movie, my favorite character was Arsenal I think.
I couldn't resist to Subaru's facial expressions and there's actually a reason for his cold attitude.
Maru was astoning for the fight scenes, my eyes were sparkling like crazy.
And  when I saw Ryo half naked, I immediately thought "wow, this is fan service!" XD

The movie is not exceptional and is a bit too short to my taste, the characters deserved better introductions for the story.
But as I already said, the music blends well, and the photography of the movie was good too.

All this to say that I need that pamphlet~

PEOPLE, big big news!
So big that I feel that I should tell every K-Pop fan!

I was randomly clicking stuff on Facebook and wanted to become a Hwangbo fan there, when I discovered something huge.
You remember few weeks ago, when we were all desperate because of the closing of Jenpoo...
Guess what, it's not dead but back under a new name: Jenpuu.

So you can all resume your life and breathe again~

Godess Hwangbo always brings good stuff.
aanjali: (05)
Godess Hwangbo is back with a new single people and it's good!

I admire this woman so much, she's strong, she's funny, she's has charisma and such a beautiful voice. When Family Outing was still airing, I was praying for her to come as a guest but it never happened. Now that she's back, maybe she'll appear in Running Man, that'd be totally daebak and Jae Suk would tease her in remembrance of old times during X-Man.

  • BIG BANG 's come back delays
  • Potential too overwhelming presence of autotune on upcoming BIG BANG album
  • Not having been able to see the Wonder Girls in Cannes
  • Not being in Paris while Vanness Wu is there
  • Waiting for the last 2 eps of Gumiho
  • Where's Gahee's solo activity Pledis!?
  • Having to work on Saturdays
  • Not being able to find a Japanese course in my region
  • That iPods can be synchronized on only ONE computer

A 45-minute episode is way to short, I love Glee, I absolutely love this series!
The new characters look fun, especially Sunshine played by Charice.
Her voice is like a miracle on this planet but I still don't like her strange gestures when she sings, I think it's odd xD
The new coach is also a good suprise, seems like we're gonna have good time and hilarious confrontations with Sue.

There's still the humor à la Glee that I loved in the first season.
And... Harry Shum Jr, you're a god of the dance ♥
(aka Elastic Man, aka Mike Chang/Other Asian on Glee)

Now highlight if you wanna see my impressions on the first episode, I don't wanna spoil anyone.

The beginning was just great with all the interviews from the ugly blog guy, I particularly loved Tina's intervention.
My second favorite moment was when Sunshine and Rachel sang in the restooms and suddenly, Sue barged into and shouted "Shut Up!", that was hilarious.
As I read almost nothing about this new season to preserve the surprise, I didn't expect at all the arrival of a new" female" coach.
I can't wait to see next Thursday's episode Britney/Brittany, I know it's gonna be epic!
And we'll see Uncle Jessie playing Emma's boyfriend.

Drama talk now! )

I did plenty of things since my return in Normandy but nothing worth to be said here so I didn't update my LJ.

Now, 2NE1 have returned and I was scared their album would be too electronic and my fears were definitely justified.
First listening... didn't make a very good impression on me but I kept playing the songs.
Few hours after, I was already singing parts of Clap Your Hands, Go Away, Can't Nobody and Hurts...
Conclusion: the songs apparently got struck in my head so I guess it was a winning comeback for me.
And CL is looking freakin awesome with blond hair!

I can't wait for BIG BANG's comeback in Korea, I want to see them already >_<
Their latest song in Japanese is kinda addictive, I love it, or maybe i'm being too impatient and like everything they release.
Also watched the ending of Nineteen and TOP was singing. Awww~

I've begun to watch Running Man, the new show hosted by Yoo Jae Suk and it's not bad but still not exceptional.
But I'm glad to see my cutie-pie Song Joong Ki even more ♥_♥
Gary and Gwang Soo are very funny too.
The episode with Cha Tae Hyun as a guest was absolutely hilarious.

Oh new addictions, the first one is a well-known Korean rock Band named YB.
I love the leader's voice and the melodies of the songs, try Still You.
I actually discovered this group thanks to the 2nd addiction: LeeSsang, try The girl who can't break up, the boy who can't leave.
Since Gary and Gil (the members of the groups) were so funny on TV shows, I decided to listen to their music.
The last album they've released, Hegonal, is pure awesomess!
And now LeeSsang feat. YB with Run.

And no news of After School Gahee solo activity, WTF!

K8 are gonna release a new album and... a film... with ALL the members!
*SPAZZ SPAZZ SPAZZ SPAZZ like crazy*
I think their my only big Japanese/Johnny's fandom now.
I still watch some Arashi-related stuff but less and less.

On a more personal note, 2 newborn cousins, 1 boy and 1 girl and 1 coming pretty soon.
I'm still working teaching English and Spanish and I'm gathering new materials to do better courses.
The only thing I don't like in my job is that I'm not free on Saturdays.
Ok, off to watch brand new episode of Glee now ♫

Gonna talk about dramas in next entry.
aanjali: (06)

Hi everyone, I hope that you're spending a nice Summer and the lucky ones who are on holidays... ENJOY~

I'm sorry for having neglected this LJ for several months already, I guess that my life is not that interesting xD

Anyway, just wanted to you that August is gonna be a busy busy time for me so I won't post here a lot I think (except if I'm too bored at work :D).

Not related at all but... Club 8 has "opened" its door!!!
I couldn't understand everything on the note, it's about some rules for the club...
I'll patiently wait for a translation now.

I'm currently revising my Japanese lessons so every night I take my book and I redo some exercises to see what I've forgotten.
There are few grammar points I didn't remember at all and some kanjis that I couldn't write anymore but it's okay, I didn't lose THAT much actually.

Also, I found some useful material on the NHK World website!
You first select your native language if available and then, you can download little lessons composed of an audio and a handout.
I think it's a good think to work on your Japanese when you're in the bus/train... or waiting somewhere or if you just have some time to kill.

Since I couldn't print all those pages, I wrote to the French department of NHK World and asked if they had some handbook to sell or whatever.
Few weeks later, I received one and they didn't ask any payment at all, I thought they were really cool to do that!

Just wanted to spread the world...
aanjali: (Ryo)

So am I listening new stuff? 8D

- Monologue by Ryo Nishikido

- Ukiyo Odoribito by Kanjani8

- Magic Girl by Orange Caramel

- Addiction by Code-V

- Come Back Again by Infinite

- Dream On by Matthew Morrison & Neil Patrick Harris for Glee

- Absolutely all After School songs! ♥

Kanjani8 are baaaaaaack and I'm so happy because of that Prologue of Patch!
I wanna know what's behind Club8's doors NAO! Ç_Ç
Ryo... why do I ALWAYS love your solos?!! ♥

Orange Caramel, my sweet girls...
I hated the song at first but it grew on me and I'm addicted to that song now.

Code-V definitely needs more love, come on!
Their first title song is great, reminds me of "Neorago" and "Insomnia" at the same time but I love it.

For Infinite, I knew I'd like them for the very start and I wasn't disappointed.
Some of the guys have very voices and the choreography is just... perfect.

And "Dream On" just because of Matthew Morrison and Neil Patrick Harris, period.
aanjali: (05)
When I heard about the After School sub-units I had mixed feelings.
On one side, I was a bit disappointed because I like the group as a whole (though I'm terribly happy that UEE is away for some side activities).
On the other, it was a good occasion to let some of the girls shine a bit because lately it was all about Gahee and Raina.

Then, the news came that the first unit would be Orange Caramel.
With such a name, of course it could only be a girly and sweet thing.
Yesasia at the same time proposed some autographed CDs and since I'm weak, I ordered one without knowing anything about the group.

The day after I think, the songs were released and I HATED "Magic Girl", I mean from all my heart and soul!
It was too bubbly, too cute, too much like Japanese pop you can hear in animes...
I was like "What have they done with my girls!? T_T"

And the MV came out and it softened my opinion, it was sweet and funny and I began to like the concept.
I also saw the live performances and the were okay, the settings were nice and all and the girls still have their charisma.

And one day, while I was driving (I always plug my iPod to my radio in my car) my iPod set on random mode, played Magic Girl and that was... so unrealistic!
I was bouncing, dancing and singing at the same time.
It really felt great, it was sunny and the song made me happy for some reason.

So if you didn't like the song at first, maybe you can give it another try because this song did grow on me after all :D

And new Nana icon because the shooting in ELLE is really nice (and I have the same sunglasses than Nana).
aanjali: (01)
This time, I won't talk about Japanese or Korean, nor any other Asian related stuff actually.
No, today's about an American TV series I've just discovered: Glee.

Okay, normally I'm not fond -at all- of series with teenagers who are going to school because I get bored very easily.
I did watch some though, but at that time, I was in high school myself, like when I was watching Buffy.

Since I saw some very good reviews about Glee, I thought I'd give another chance to that kind of series and...
Well, I have to say that I like it... I mean, very much :D

It's not exceptionnal but I like the narration, the originality of the characters, all the comedy and drama sides as well.
I think this is the kind of TV series that exactly meets my expectations when I wanna watch something entertaining.
And... I love choirs, I don't even know why... (I enjoyed Sister Act 2 so much a long time ago xD)

The mix of singing and acting reminds me of Bollywood films where the songs all have a meaning.
(Yeah, I've been madly in love with the Bollywood style since I'm 11 I think when I watched Raja Hindustani).

I like Mr. Schue, he's funny and his voice and dancing skills are totally wow!
And I have 2 favorite duos: Artie / Tina and Kurt / Mercedes.
The guy playing Mike, aka Other Asian (xD) can REALLY dance, OMG!
Sue is an awesome character, always composed and trying to take the glee club down.
I like the Indian principal too, he has some funny moments.

I think now you can say I'm a Gleek...
aanjali: (TOP)
Until recently, 2NE1 was the only girl group I was interested in.
But since I like After School's title "Because of you", I decided to watch their other performances.
These girls are some charisma, they dance quite well and most of them can sing!
Now, I can say it aloud... I'm a Playgirlz! I'm gonna explain why I like them so much.

I love every single member but I have a little preference for Raina and Kahi though.
Kahi is a fierce woman with a dream body, she excels at dance, she has a good and constant voice and she can rap.
Moreover, she's a great leader with a great presence, this girl can do anything!
She's going solo soon for the After School sub-units, I can't wait to hear her.

Raina... ah Raina, I've totally succumbed to her voice and she's so pretty with her round face! >_<
She's the one with the most powerful and beautiful voice of the group, she's a great asset now.

Jung Ah is the soft voice, she looks so mature and all (and I think she looks a bit like Uhm Jung Hwa and that's a compliment).
I think I prefer when she has long hair...

I was kinda indifferent to Bekah at first, but the more I see/listen to her, the more I love her!
She actually has a good and pretty voice and she's got some attitude, like Kahi ♥

It was the same for Nana, I thought she was pretty but that's all.
Her long blond hair suit her well I think and she can sing... trot, I love trot!!!

UEE, I got some issue with her because I thought she looked really strict and severe.
And I saw her in You're Beautiful where her character was really not likeable.
But it grew on me and I like seing her smiling in the Diva MV or on TV shows.
There's only one thing... she's definitely the worst at singing xD

Ju Yeon absolutely can't sing but she's pretty pretty, especially with short hair, llike in the Bang MV.
But they found the solution at Pledis, the volume of her mic is lower than the others xD

Since Lizzy has just come, I don't know her well but I saw the video where Pledis introduces her and she has a lovely voice.

UEE is gone for now because she's shooting a new drama but now, on 8 members, there are 6 of them who can sing well! Yeepee!

Kahi, Raina, Jung Ah & Bekah

Kahi & Bekah duet

Raina & Bekah duet
Kahi & Jung Ah duet

"Because of you" is my favourite song from them, I still listen to it a lot.
"When I fall" has a slower rythm but it's beautiful.
I'm not a big big fan of "Bang!" but there's a moment I absolutely adore: the Kahi+Raina part.
"Ah!" is a funny song and "Diva" just makes you wanna dance!

Okay, I stop it for now... I'll just patiently wait for their comeback.
aanjali: (Aiba)

If Top can do it, I can do it!

I'm gonna train hard even though I do hate football.
I consider myself a lot more French than Korean but since the French football team sucks like hell, I'll support Korea.

Talking about BIG BANG, they've just released their new song for the Japanese version of IRIS:

So, of course it's in Japanese and I usually don't like BIB BANG's Japanese singles but this one is really nice!
They all look so good in their suits and very hawt moment with Daesung soaking wet with the rain!

Seems like GD and Top still don't master Japanese cause they're stil rapping in Engrish xD
I particularly like when GD says "Round and round and round", the guy has a lot charisma in this video, we can't deny it.

I can't wait for their comeback and I want some hot stuff please!

Hi everyone, I'm sorry for the lack of updates here of comments on your LJs, but my internet connexion was totally dead until today.

So, what am I listening?

- Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by Lee Hyori

- Memory  by Lee Hyori

- Want me back by Lee Hyori

- C'mon Through by Lasse Lindh

- Loving you is easy by Sarah McLachlan

It's the long-awaited comeback for Hyori and even though there's this plagiarism issue, I enjoy her new album a lot.
I feel that her voice has mature a bit more and maybe her too, this style suits her better.
Too bad there's this controversy because it's a really good album and people may only see the copyright thing.
But I'm also not telling it's okay to steal others' compositions...

C'mon Through is from the OST of the drama Soulmate.
See below if you want more information.

And 2010 will witness Sarah Mclachlan's comeback too!
Her last album is from 2003, I went to her concert in Paris.
This new song is a new part of her life, the tempo and her lyrics have changed and you know what, it's not a bad thing at all!
